Business Purpose Of DBE |
Among the purposes for which the DBE is established are:
|
To provide investment credits and short –term loans to viable projects that will contribute to the country’s economic development; |
|
To mobilize funds from sources within or outside the country; |
|
To manage funds entrusted to it; |
|
To participate in equity investments; |
|
To provide domestic and foreign banking services to its borrowers; |
|
To accept time deposits; |
|
To guarantee loans and other financial obligations; |
|
To draw, accept, discount, buy and sell bills of exchange drafts and promissory notes payable within or outside of Ethiopia; |
|
To act as a trustee; |
|
To provide technical and managerial services; |
|
To open and operate bank accounts, with Banks and banking correspondents in Ethiopia or abroad |
|
To engage in such other activities as are customarily carried out by development Banks |
The Bank has been re-established by Regulation No 116 of 2005 to accommodate changes made in its capital and organizational structure as per the requirements of Public Enterprises Proclamation. After consideration of its business purpose and the strategic role that it is expected to play in the development of the national economy as well as the foundations of duly strong development banks, the Bank has formulated its vision, mission and values.
