The Development Bank of Ethiopia conducted a half day forum with clients at the Ghion Hotel on February 12, 2010, on the issues of the Bank’s service delivery performance.
On the occasion of the discussion forum, the president, the four Vice presidents of the Bank were found along with twenty four invited customers. The discussion highlighted on the Bank’s service delivery, especially after the implementation of Business process Re-engineering since July 2010. On the event, different ideas were raised which reflected both the Bank’s strong and weak sides. The strong ideas were said to be kept upon by the Bank.
The president on its part said that the ideas raised by clients were useful and so the Bank will scrutinize and use them since the venue was created for such purpose. Moreover, he disclosed that for some of the client’s remarks such as pre-operating interest payment and L/C credit service, the Bank has taken measure inline with the customer’s interest but not communicated.
Thus, to solve the problem related to pre-operating interest payment during implementation stage of the project, the Bank has revised its policy to assume pre-operating interest as part of the project cost and to be contributed upfront with 30% equity contribution. The Bank also provides L/C credit service which has been implemented.
The president, in his closing speech, remarked that the Bank will arrange similar discussion forums regularly so as to detect the level of the Bank’ s service delivery improvement and take corrective measure timely in areas of weaknesses.
