DBE’s ERP System Project Kicked-Off
Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE) has kicked off an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Project on Monday, October 10, 2016, here at the Head Office.
Acting President of DBE, Ato Dereje Awgichew, in his welcoming and opening speech said that the Bank has already established a dedicated ERP Project Management Office led by a Project Manager, Business and Technical Managers with 32 members, having adequate exposure for the successful completion of the Project.
The objective of the implementation of the project is to enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Bank’s resources.
Ato Dereje, who is also Vice President of Project Financing in the Bank, expressed his Bank’s commitment to closely follow-up the implementation of the Project which has to be completed as per the schedule.
On his part, Delivery Manager of Tech Mahindra Ltd in East Africa, Mr. RadhaKrishnan P introduced Indian consultants assigned to work for the Project. Furthermore, he mentioned that the expertise had broad exposures and they will manage the Project implementation pertinent to the Bank’s expectation.
The Delivery Manager also appreciated the Bank’s readiness in different perspective.
Following that the Lifecycle of the ERP Project was presented by Tech Mahindra ERP’s Project Manager, K Vevel Roy in brief.
On the presentation, the Tech Mahindra Project Manager explained the objectives, project scope, responsibilities, timeline, review, quality plan, milestone and deliverables, among others.
DBE ERP Project implementation project covers 13 modules which include six Financial, four Human Resource Management and three Property Management modules, and the project also cover building a dataware house and business intelligence tool for report generation.
According to the project implementation schedule, the Project is set to be finalized from six to seven months. Besides, there will be a two-month post Go-Live support.
On the closing speech, Vice President of Corporate Services of the Bank, Ato Teka Yibrah on his part said that as the implementer company already gained experience from similar institutions like that of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, the Bank is building a confidence on implementer company capacities in managing the project and we hope you can finish the Bank’s ERP implementation Project in short period of time. For this, the Bank can assure you to work with you as a partner.

የርክክብ ሥነ ሥርዓት ተካሄደ
የኢትዮጵያ ልማት ባንክ ከጉለሌ ክፍለ ከተማ አስተዳደር በተረከበው 10 ሺህ ካሬ ሜትር ቦታ ላይ ያለማው የመለስ መታሰቢያ አረንጓዴ ማዕከል ነሐሴ 30 ቀን 2008 ዓ.ም. የርክክብ ሥነ ሥርዓት ተካሄደ።
በርክክብ ሥነ ሥርዓቱ ላይ የመንግሥት ፋይናንስ ድርጅቶች ኤጀንሲ ዋና ዳይሬክተር ዶክተር ስንታየሁ ወልደ ሚካኤል፣ የኢትዮጵያ ልማት ባንክ ከፍተኛ የሥራ አመራር አባላት፣ የጉለሌ ክፍለ ከተማ የካቢኔ አባላት እንዲሁም ሌሎች የተጋበዙ እንግዶች ተገኝተዋል።
የባንኩ ፕሬዝዳንት አቶ ኢሳያስ ባህረ በመግቢያ ንግግራቸው የኢትዮጵያ ልማት ባንክ ከሀገሪቱ የልማት አቅጣጫዎች በመነሳት ከሚመለከታቸው ባለድርሻ አካላትና ባለሀብቶች ጋር በመመካከር የፖሊሲ ባንክ ሆኖ ሀገሪቱ እያስመዘገበች ያለውን ቀጣይነት ያለው የኢኮኖሚና ማኅበራዊ ዕድገት በከፍተኛ ሁኔታ እየደገፈ የሚገኝ ተቋም ነው ብለዋል።
ፕሬዝዳንቱ በንግግራቸው ባንካችን የታላቁን መሪ አቶ መለስ ዜናዊ ራዕይ በኢትዮጵያውያን አዕምሮ ውስጥ ለዘላለም ታስቦ እንዲኖርና ይህ ዓለም አቀፍ ይዘት ያለው ዘመን ተሻጋሪ ራዕያቸውን ለማስቀጠል ከሁሉም የሕብረተሰብ ክፍሎች ጋር በመተባበር በመሥራት ላይ ይገኛል፤ ለወደፊቱም ይህንንም ሥራ አጠናክሮ ይቀጥላል በማለት ያሰመሩበት ሲሆን ባንኩ ይህንን በማለቱ እግረ መንገዱን ለአካባቢ ጥበቃና እንክብካቤ የሚሰጠውን ዋጋ እና እሴት ያሳያል የባንኩንም ገጽታ የበለጠ ይገነባል ብለዋል።
የመንግሥት ፋይናንስ ድርጅቶች ኤጀንሲ ዋና ዳይሬክተር ዶክተር ስንታየሁ ወልደ ሚካኤል በበኩላቸው ታላቁ መሪያችን የነበሩት አቶ መለስ ዜናዊ ለአረንጓዴ ልማት፣ ለአካባቢ እንክብካቤና ጥበቃ የጠለቀ ዕውቀት፣ ራዕይና በጎ አመለካከት በዓለም ዘንድ ከፍተኛ ግምትና ትኩረት ስቦ እንደነበርና የእኚህን ታላቅ መሪ የትኩረት አቅጣጫ የነበረውን ራዕይ ቀጣይነት አስተማማኝ ለማድረግ መንግስታችን፣ ተቋማትና በአጠቃላይ ሕብረተሰቡ ሁለንተናዊ በሆነ መልኩ ተገቢውን እንቅስቃሴ እያደረገ ይገኛል በማለት ገልጸዋል።
ዋና ዳይሬክተሩ የዚህም ዋና መገለጫ የኢትዮጵያ ልማት ባንክና የጉለሌ ክፍለ ከተማ በትብብር ይህንን የአቶ መለስ ዜናዊ መታሰቢያ አረንጓዴ ማዕከል አዘጋጅተው በዛሬው ዕለት ለምረቃ አብቅተውታል በማለት የተናገሩ ሲሆን ሥራውም ቀጣይነት እንዲኖረው ለክፍለ ከተማውም ሆነ ለሚመለከታቸው ባለድርሻ አካላት የአደራ መልዕክት አስተላፈዋል።
የጉለሌ ክፍለ ከተማ አስተዳደር ዋና ሥራ አስፈጻሚ አቶ ለዓለም ተሠራ በበኩላቸው የኢትዮጵያ ልማት ባንክ ሙሉ ወጪውን ሸፍኖ ይህን የመለስ መታሰቢያ አረንጓዴ ማዕከል በማስረከቡ ከፍ ያለ አክብሮት እንዳላቸው ገልጸው ክፍለ ከተማውም ይህን ማዕከል ለወጣቶች በማስረከብ የገቢ ማስገኛ እንዲሆን ከማድረግ ባለፈ የታላቁን መሪ አቶ መለስ ዜናዊ ራዕይ ማስቀጠል እንዲችሉ የበኩላቸውን ሚና እንደሚጫወት ገልጸዋል።
በሥነ ሥርዓቱ ላይ የኢትዮጵያ ልማት ባንክ ፕሬዝዳንት አቶ ኢሳያስ ባህረ የርክክብ ሠርተፊኬት ለጉለሌ ክፍለ ከተማ አስተዳደር ዋና ሥራ አስፈጻሚ አቶ ለዓለም ተሠራ አረንጓዴ ማዕከሉን ያስረከቡ ሲሆን ዋና ሥራ አስፈጻሚው ደግሞ በተዋረድ ለወጣቶቹ አስረክበዋል።
የመለስ መታሰቢያ አረንጓኳዴ ማዕከሉን የተረከቡት የተደራጁ ወጣቶች በበኩላቸው የተሰጣቸውን አደራ ተቀብለው ልማቱን እንዲያስቀጥሉና ማዕከሉን ለራሳቸው የገቢ ማስገኛ ሥራ እንደሚፈጥሩበት ቃል ገብተዋል።
በመጨረሻም ልዩ ልዩ ሙዚቃዎችና ሥነ ግጥም የቀረበ ሲሆን የአረንጓዴ ማዕከሉ የጥብጣብ ቆረጣና የምርቃት ፕሮግራም ተካሂዶ አረንጓዴ ማዕከሉ ከተጎበኘ በኋላ የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ መዝሙር ተዘምሮ የሥነ ሥርዓቱ ፍጻሜ ሆኗል።
DBE Holds 2015/16 Annual Management Members Meeting
Development Bank of Ethiopia carried out its annual management members meeting from July 29-30, 2016 at Haile resort, Hawassa town of SNNP region. On the meeting H.E Dr Sintayehau W/Michael, Public Financial Enterprise Agency Director, was took part.
The meeting has marked on the evaluation of 2015/16 annual performance and the 2016/17annual budgetary plan of the Bank and the way forward to the forthcoming duties having been directed by the Director of the agency and Executive Management of the Bank.
On the opening remark Development Bank of Ethiopia’s President Ato Esayas Bahre asserted that, besides the regular tasks set in the preceding annual plan the Bank was able to open 75 additional branches across the country and fill up with competent man power and office furniture so as to support and serve small and medium enterprises through lease financing service. To meet its mission, the Bank has also revised its credit policy and its structure along with hiring new employees and offering promotion to many employees, according to him.
To fully achieve its dual mission, new policies and procedures has been under execution. Furthermore, to enhance the Bank’s lending capacity, the Bank’s paid up capital has been increased to birr 7.5 billion which strengthen financial provision to government priority area projects, Ato Esayas indicated.
Having presented annual performance report, strengths exhibited during the budgetary period, problems, weaknesses, corrective measures taken and constraints with regard to lease financing service has been discussed in-depth among the attendants.
According to the report, during the budget year the Bank approved birr 11.84 billion and disbursed birr 6.33 billion. The Bank has also collected birr 4.1 billion in the fiscal year, while non performing loan is yet to improve as compared to the set plan although projects in the non performing loan category are operational.
On the other hand, the report highlighted the Bank has earned birr 2.51 billion foreign currencies from borrowers who export their product. Besides, the Bank has collected birr 920 million from Ethiopian Renaissance Dam bond sale which of course exceeds the set plan.
During the Fiscal year, 283 projects financed by the Bank are expected to create 27,623 job opportunities in permanent and contractual basis and to generate birr 4.3 billion foreign currency. In line with this, government revenue is also expected to increase by birr 2.4 billion, the report indicates.
At the end of 2008 fiscal year, the Bank has earned a net profit of birr 413.9 million after tax and provision.
In the Forthcoming fiscal year (2016/17), the Bank has planned to approve birr 18.8 billion, disburse birr 14.08 billion and collect birr 6.0 billion and also aspired to earn net profit of birr 654.04 million. It is also indicated in the plan that the Bank will exhaustively work to minimize non performing loans to 8%.
Following the report, answers were given to forwarded questions and wide discussions have been made in an effort to have clear understanding on basic issues of the Bank. Noticing issues pin pointed in the report comprises minimizing non performing loans, maximizing foreign currency generation from exports and fortifying lease financing service provision to SMEs. Accordingly, the president gave direction on the need to joint move towards the planned tasks by employees at all levels which is utmost important for the achievement of the Bank.
The Public Financial Enterprise Agency director H.E Dr Sintayehu W/Michael, after the report, has also denoted areas of focus where to emphasize and register better achievement than the previous fiscal year.
At the end, management members have shown their determination to commit list of promises towards the satisfaction of the government and stake holders’ expectations, to strive hard in a holistic manner and to register outstanding success for the 2016/17 budgetary plan.
